The World’s Smallest Dog: Meet Pearl, The Tiny Chihuahua Who Has Broken Records

Pearl, a two-year-old female chihuahua, has recently been crowned the world’s smallest dog by Guinness World Records in April 2023. Let’s take a closer look at this tiny pup and her amazing story.

The Guinness World Records declared Pearl as the smallest dog in the world earlier this month. Born on September 1, 2020, this adorable chihuahua measures only 9.14 cm (3.59 in) in height and 12.7 cm (5.0 in) in length. To put that in perspective, Pearl is smaller than a popsicle stick and almost as long as a dollar bill. She weighs just 553 g (1.22 lb), which is incredibly light.

Pearl is the relative of another famous chihuahua named Miracle Milly, who also held the world record for being the smallest dog. Interestingly, both Pearl and Milly were just 28 grams at birth.

To check Pearl’s record, her height was measured three times at different levels at the Crystal Creek Animal Hospital in Orlando, in conformity with Guinness World Records guidelines. The measurements were taken in a vertical line from the base of Pearl’s front foot up to the top of the withers.

One of the things that makes Pearl so special is her calm temperament, which is unlike many other chihuahuas. Her owner, Vanesa Semler, recently introduced Pearl on the Italian TV show Lo Show Dei Record, where she expressed her excitement about breaking the record and sharing the news with the world.

In the May of last year, Guinness World Records reported Zeus, a two-year-old American Great Dane, was the world’s tallest dog (male). Zeus measures 3 feet 5.18 inches (1.046 metres) and lives with the Davis family in Texas, US. He was arrogated by Brittany Davis when he was about eight weeks old.

In conclusion, Pearl is an incredibly tiny chihuahua who has broken records and captured the hearts of people around the world. Her calm temperament and unique story make her a true treasure. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Pearl, the world’s smallest dog.
